ALIMANGO FESTIVAL
The Alimango Festival, also known as the "Katang Festival" or the "Crab Festival", is a seafood celebration held in the Philippine province of Quezon in the municipality of Calauag. It occurs on May 25 each year. The numerous barangay units of the municipality take part in this week-long festival. The Quezon province's center for crab and seaweed is Calauag.
HISTORY
Farming of mud crabs is one of the primary livelihoods among the people in the town. The variety they produced have distinct flavor due to the water system where they are sourced from.

The crab race, in which locals adept in catching crabs compete, is a highlight of the Crab Festival celebration in Calauag, Quezon.

The crab race has also grown in popularity as a tourist attraction. Municipal
Plaza serves as the venue for contestants from all over the Calauag. The
celebration also includes a magnificent procession that showcases the town's customs
and crab industry.
